Dienogest, sold under the brand names Dinagest, Natazia, Qlaira, Valette, and Visanne among others, is a progestin which is available both in combination with estrogen for use in hormonal contraception and menopausal hormone therapy and by itself for the treatment of endometriosis. It has some antiandrogenic activity in addition to its progestogenic effects and as a result may improve symptoms of androgen-dependent conditions like acne.

It is taken by mouth. Dydrogesterone is safe and well-tolerated.

Tibolone has progestogenic and estrogenic activity as well as weak androgenic activity.

Ethinylestriol (EE3), or 17α-ethynylestriol, also known as 17α-ethynylestra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,16α,17β-triol, is a synthetic, steroidal estrogen that was never marketed. Nilestriol, the 3-cyclopentyl ether of ethinylestriol, is a prodrug of ethinylestriol, and is a more potent estrogen in comparison, but, similarly to ethinylestriol, was never marketed. Ethinylestriol has been found to reduce the risk of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA)-induced mammary cancer when given as a prophylactic in animal models, while other estrogens like ethinylestradiol and diethylstilbestrol were ineffective.

It is has potent progestogenic effects on the uterine endometrium (transforming proliferative endometrium into secretory one), inhibits secretion of gonadotropins, suppresses maturation of follicles in the ovaries and ovulation, and reduces menstrual bleeding.

Drospirenone is a progestin used in birth control pills and in menopausal hormone therapy for the treatment of menopausal symptoms. In addition to its progestogenic activity, it also has antiandrogenic and antimineralocorticoid activity. It is sold as a combined birth control pill under the brand names Yasmin (US, EU, Latin America), Jasmine (France), Yarina (Russia) in a dosage containing drospirenone 3 mg/ethinylestradiol 30 µg.

Trimegestone, sold under the brand names Lovelle, Ondeva, Totelle, and Totelle Sekvens (all in combination with an estrogen), is a progestin of the 19-norprogesterone group which is marketed in Europe as a hormonal contraceptive and for use in hormonal replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms.
Raloxifene, sold under the brand name Evista among others, is a medication which is used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and to reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or at high risk for breast cancer. It is taken by mouth. Side effects of raloxifene include hot flashes, leg cramps, and an increased risk of blood clots and other cardiovascular events such as stroke.
Formestane, sold under the brand name Lentaron among others, is a steroidal, selective aromatase inhibitor which is used in the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The drug is not active orally, and is instead available only as an intramuscular depot injection. Because of this, it is no longer popular as many orally active aromatase inhibitors have been identified and introduced.
