Norethisterone (NET), also known as norethindrone, is a medication that is used in combination with estrogen or alone in hormonal contraceptives, menopausal hormone therapy, and in the treatment of gynecological disorders. It is a synthetic progestogen (or a progestin) of the 19-nortestosterone group and has similar effects to those of natural progesterone, including suppression of gonadotropins, ovulation inhibition, and endometrial transformation. In addition to its progestogenic activity, NET also has weak androgenic and estrogenic effects at high dosages.

It is taken by mouth. Side effects of methyltestosterone include symptoms of masculinization like acne, increased hair growth, voice changes, and increased sexual desire.
Megestrol (INN, BAN) is a steroidal progestin of the 17α-hydroxyprogesterone group which was never marketed and is not currently used clinically. Its acylated derivative megestrol acetate is also a progestogen, which, in contrast to megestrol itself, has been extensively used as a pharmaceutical drug.

Megestrol acetate (abbreviated as MGA), sold under the brand name Megace, is a progestin with antiandrogen activity that is mainly used as an appetite stimulant and less commonly in the treatment of breast and endometrial cancers. It is the C17α acetate ester of megestrol, which, in contrast to MGA, was never marketed for medical use. The term megestrol is often inappropriately used as a synonym for MGA, and when it is used, it almost always refers to MGA rather actually than megestrol.
Dienogest, sold under the brand names Dinagest, Natazia, Qlaira, Valette, and Visanne among others, is a progestin which is available both in combination with estrogen for use in hormonal contraception and menopausal hormone therapy and by itself for the treatment of endometriosis. It has some antiandrogenic activity in addition to its progestogenic effects and as a result may improve symptoms of androgen-dependent conditions like acne.
